Justice Stephen Gageler AC will deliver the 2023 Sir Anthony Mason Lecture on Tuesday, 31 October 2023 at 5:30pm at the Melbourne Law School, G08 Theatre, 185 Pelham St, Carlton.

The lecture, titled "The New Constitutional Scholarship in Australia," will explore the latest trends and developments in Australian constitutional scholarship.

The Sir Anthony Mason Lecture is an annual event hosted by the Melbourne Law School in honour of Sir Anthony Mason, a former Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia. Established in 1995, the lecture celebrates outstanding contributions to the legal profession and is regarded as one of the most highly anticipated and prestigious events of the year. This year's lecture will be the first Sir Anthony Mason Lecture to be held since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The topic of this year's lecture is inspired by Professor Adrienne Stone's High Court Lecture last year, which called attention to a trend in recent constitutional scholarship to examine and explain uniquely Australian aspects of our constitutional structure and tradition. The lecture seeks to continue Professor Adrienne Stone's discourse on that front.
