Members of the legal community gathered in Melbourne's Hardware Lane for the 21st annual Legal Laneway Breakfast, marking the start of the 2024 legal year. Over 300 attendees from the justice sector participated in the event, which featured prominent keynote speakers and engaging discussions.
Highlights included speeches from Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes MP, Legal Services Board CEO and Commissioner Fiona McLeay, and Victoria Law Foundation Research Director Professor Nigel J. Balmer. They tackled critical issues confronting the justice system and outlined priorities for the upcoming year.
Distinguished guests included Chief Justice Debra Mortimer of the Federal Court of Australia, Chief Justice Will Alstergren of the Federal Circuit and Family Court, Justice Mordecai Bromberg, President of the Australian Law Reform Commission, and the Honourable Anthony North KC, a new Commissioner with the Yoorrook Justice Commission.
