The third and final day of our multi-disciplinary training for the Ballarat Specialist Family Violence Court took place in November.
Over 50 participants from local organisations explored how to work better together to improve the experience of victim survivors of family violence.
Facilitated by Director of Kulturbrille, Anu Krishan and led by Lead Family Violence Magistrate Noreen Toohey, the collaborative and engaging training day highlighted the benefits of the newly implemented specialist court and the importance of an integrated and multidisciplinary response to family violence.
A powerful group exercise on the day invited participants to use a ball of yarn to track the different touch-points victim survivors must go through as they make their way through the often challenging and stressful family violence legal system. The exercise demonstrated the effect the system can have on survivors, and the importance of the working together to improve their experience.
