Coronavirus and Contracts

How does the coronavirus impact upon commercial transactions and how are Australian courts grappling with the issues?

In a new piece for our coronavirus library, the College has provided a brief overview of the law in relation to the discharge of contracts in Victoria. ‘Coronavirus and Contracts’ considers common contract issues likely to arise as a result of the pandemic, and analyses the early jurisprudence on these matters.

Our new publication discusses common topics related to contracts, including:

  • Force majeure clauses
  • The common law doctrine of frustration
  • Discharge by exercise of right
  • Restitution
