This highly interactive two-day specialist family violence program will focus on:

  • Developing a framework for understanding coercive control and assessing and managing risk in the courtroom
  • Engaging with parties in a way that centralises the safety of victim survivors and children¬†
  • Understanding intersectionality and how to provide safe and inclusive responses to family violence
  • Developing a problem-solving practice that promotes accountability of perpetrators
  • Leading the multi-disciplinary team in the Specialist Family Violence Court.

Magistrate Colin Strofield was appointed as a Magistrate in Queensland in March 2008. After a short period in the Brisbane Magistrates Court His Honour transferred to the Charleville Magistrates Court for two years. In April 2011 His Honour was transferred to the Holland Park Magistrates Court and on 1 September 2015 he undertook the role of the Magistrate at the Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Court at Southport. Prior to his appointment Magistrate Strofield was the legal advisor to the Commissioner of the Police Service for 13 years.
