The Supreme Court of Victoria will hold a special ceremonial sitting to mark its first attendance at the new Bendigo Law Courts.

The event will take place on Wednesday 5 April and will be presided over by Chief Justice Anne Ferguson, President Karin Emerton, and Justice Robert Osborn. The sitting will begin at 9:15 am and will include a Welcome to Country from the Dja Dja Wurrung, as well as addresses from Chief Justice Ferguson, President Emerton, Sam Hay KC (President of the Victorian Bar), and Juliana Smith (Law Institute of Victoria).

The new Bendigo Law Courts officially opened on February 27, and the building features nine courtrooms, two hearing rooms, two mediation suites, remote witness facilities, and dedicated jury areas, among other amenities. Speaking at the opening event, Chief Justice Ferguson said the new operating model means that people attending any court or tribunal in the building will have access to services in spaces that are calm, secure, and comfortable.

The ceremonial sitting is an opportunity to celebrate the new Bendigo Law Courts and its contribution to the local community's experience of the justice system.

The ceremonial sitting will be livestreamed
