Serious Injury Manual update.

We have updated our Serious Injury Manual in response to VWA v Brassington [2021] VSCA 236, which reconsidered how injuries to several body parts in a single incident are assessed for the purpose of the ‘serious injury’ test.

Historically, the ability to aggregate several impairments to a single limb was limited by the judgment in Lu v Mediterranean Shoes Pty Ltd (2000) 1 VR 511, but that aspect of the decision was disapproved in VWA v Brassington.
