New key bail case cites Judicial College's First Nations resources.

First Nations artwork
The College’s Key Bail Act Cases resource has been updated with a new case, Re Firebrace.

This case specifically references our First Nations resource page on bail, stating that

"bail is a significant matter for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander accused, both because of their overrepresentation in the criminal justice system and for cultural reasons".

Our First Nations resources are designed to inform judicial officers about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and legal issues concerning community. The Court's decision to cite our First Nations resource page underscores the value of our work in promoting understanding and awareness of the issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the criminal justice system.

Check out our Key Bail Act Cases resource and our First Nations resource page for more information.
