New County Court judge appointed

The College welcomes and congratulates Fran Dalziel on her appointment to the County Court of Victoria.

Ms Dalziel will bring her significant experience in a number of jurisdictions and areas of practice to the bench.

In 2001, she was admitted to legal practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia. She signed the Bar Roll in 2005, and practised in criminal law and personal injury at the Victorian Bar.

She was appointed as a Crown Prosecutor in 2012, and in 2018 was appointed as a Senior Crown Prosecutor contributing to the Court of Appeal practice and trial practice.

Following her appointment as Senior Counsel for Victoria in November 2018, Ms Dalziel was involved in the prosecution of several complex and high profile matters on behalf of the State of Victoria.

She has also worked as a solicitor in the firm Mills Oakley Lawyers, as well as at TAC Law’s WorkCover division, and has previously served as an Associate at the Court of Appeal.

Her Honour’s appointment commences from 28 February 2020.
