Justice Jacqueline Gleeson becomes Australia’s 55th High Court judge.

Justice Gleeson has been sworn in as a justice of the High Court of Australia.

Justice Gleeson, who becomes the sixth woman ever to serve on the seven-member High Court, is the daughter of former High Court Chief Justice Murray Gleeson.

Justice Gleeson comes to the court after a diverse career, which has included time at the bar, as a government solicitor and as counsel for the Australian Broadcasting Authority. At the time of her appointment to the High Court, she was a judge of the Federal Court of Australia, having been appointed to that position in April 2014
