The Yoorrook Justice Commission will hold public hearings from April 27 to May 12, questioning Victorian government officials and the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police. The hearings are open to the public and livestreamed.

The Yoorrook Justice Commission has been established as the first formal truth-telling process to investigate past and ongoing injustices faced by First Peoples in Victoria. This process aims to bring to light colonial conflict and dispossession, while also recognising the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.

The inquiry process involves hearing stories and gathering information from First Peoples, examining available data, seeking new information, and making recommendations for system reform and practical changes based on evidence gathered from institutions.
