Recent Updates to Sentencing Manual

Amendments to the Sentencing Act 1991 commence today which restrict the ability of the Magistrates' Court to impose a suspended sentence for a 'significant offence', where the case is transferred from the Supreme or County Courts. For further information, see 12.15.3.2 - Prohibition on suspended sentences for serious and significant offences.

The Sentencing Manual also includes new material discussing the latest cases in relation to totality and cancellation of parole, see 6.4.3.2 - Totality and parole.
