Supreme Court delivers first standard sentence in Victoria

The first case under Victoria’s standard sentence scheme was handed down yesterday in the Supreme Court case of R v Brown.

In his reasons, Justice Champion held that the standard sentence must be considered as a legislative guidepost in the instinctive synthesis, consistent with what the High Court said in Muldrock.
