High Court decision in Dalgliesh summarised - New JCV case note

News Date: 

Today the High Court issued a significant decision about sentencing practice in Victoria, emphasising that current sentencing practices are merely one factor to consider and must not be treated as determinative.

The Court also held that offenders cannot have a legitimate expectation that they will be sentenced within the bounds shown by sentencing practice.
