Charter of Human Rights Bench Book

This new resource on the operation of Victoria’s key human rights legislation was developed by the Judicial College of Victoria, under the guidance of an Editorial Committee comprising members of the judiciary and representatives from the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission, the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office and the Law Institute of Victoria.

The Bench Book includes chapters on each Charter right, and on each of the Charter’s operative provisions including:

  • statutory interpretation
  • obligations on public authorities
  • justifiable limitations on rights
