Throughout the charges, the following formatting styles are used:
- Italics are used for giving instructions to judges (e.g. If relevant, add the following…).
- Underliningis used for emphasis (e.g. The accused must have applied force to the complainant’s body)
- Bold text is used to help judges navigate their way through the charges, by highlighting the topic being discussed (e.g. The second element that the prosecution must prove is…)
- Shading is used to identify aspects of the charge that will only need to be included if certain factual circumstances arise.
